Kelvin, Max, Ed, and Allen thanks for your replies. Maybe they are snaps, but
here is why I have doubt and confusion:
There are two of these in each footwell. They are not at the inboard or
outboard edges of the floor. Niether are they very far up the sloped part of
the floor (an inch or two). It doesn't seem like they in the right place to hold
the edges of carpet or mats.
The snaps are over 3/4" O.D. (way bigger than typical snaps) and held with 1/4
inch fine tread philips machine screws (way fatter than typical snap fastening
screws). Unless a PO squashed the crap out of some standard male snaps, they
sure don't look like normal snaps.
They seem like original equippment, too. The locations in both footwells seem
so similar, I cant believe they are a PO's effort to plug holes. And the floor
isn't rusty around these things. They really look original! But they don't
look like snaps.
Maybe I should hunt down some other MGB to look at, eh? Maybe mine really is
uniquely modified.
