Man! I would *never* apply twisting force to a "banjo" wheel... you know,
the kind that was stock in all MGs up into the 70's (I know you know
because of your list of cars). All you'd probably achieve would be
busting the plastic rim where the little spokes attach, so that 2 or 3 of
them would protrude in a very annoying (not to mention dangerous) manner.
At least I've seen plenty of ones broken in this way, presumably just
from people levering on them to get into and out of the car. I wouldn't
want to encourage this by deliberating pushing or pulling on the rim.
"...it won't bend", ha! Not more than 3 or 4 inches... Your friend must
have been thinkng of a Detroit wheel, is all I can say.
But you say it worked for you... on what type of steering wheel?
