Steering Gear Lubrication

I am new to this list, have a 1964 MGB roadster completely restored.  I am
uncertain about what kind of grease gun or lubrication tool to obtain to 
put gear grease in the steering mechanism.  Does one purchase a normal 
grease gun and insert a special type of gear lube in it?  Any help here
will be appreciated.
