Hmmm, doesn't sound too bad at all. It's possible some adjustment to the
tranny shift linkage could be attempted (short of major internal work),
but you do have to pull the engine and tranny together. I would recommend
you get used to the wire wheels, though. Since most buyers consider them
a "plus" it seems silly to go to any expense removing them. Of course it
can be done, but unless you're planning to keep it as your #1 ride and
you simply can't live with 'em, I think it would be a bad investment to
switch to Rostyles. From your description, you could buy the car at his
price, have a pro take care of the tranny, put in an interior kit, and
sell for a decent profit (well, in some parts of the country, anyway).
It's not very often that the math on these deals looks anything like that
attractive...
