Just another point. In Canada, we don't title cars, so you won't have that
hassle to contend with. The license plate registration is all there is. So,
just ensure the seller is the registered owner per his pink slip, and get
an appropriate bill of sale.
Then perhaps ensure there are no liens against the car. Not sure about
other provinces, but usually there is an office where you can do this check
for a nominal fee. If you have a specific province in mind, just ask the
list. - there are residents of various provinces on this list.
