Waxoyl is manufactured by Finigans and is widely used by restorationists to
protect from corrosion the insides of panels and other areas not directly
subject to impact from stones and water e.g. from wheels. It is a 'waxy
oil' that has a stiff consistency at, say, 60F but can be liquid at, say,
80F. It can be painted on with a brush at any temperature, but can also
come with a spay kit where the container has to be placed in hot water
before it can be used (at least, it does in the UK on all but a few days a
year, know as 'Waxoyl' days). Unlike traditional underseal it does not
harden and subsequently peel (trapping water and salt and accellerating
corrosion) but always stays soft, which is why it is not used underbody and
in wheel arches. Finigans also sell an underbody seal that is stiffer than
Waxoyl but still does not harden.
