Converting rubber bumper to chrome

I am getting a 78' MGB roadster in the next few days. I have heard several 
comments about people converting these rubber bumpered cars to chrome ( front 
and rear chrome bumpers and grille). How hard is this to do? How much body 
work is involved? I assume it can also get quite expensive. Any comments on 
this procedure from the experts in the group? TIA and happy motoring !!
