Putting a 5 main engine ito a car that had a 3 main one is no sweat, you just
use a custom crankshaft bush to suit the smaller input shaft. Moss used to
sell these, I believe. Going the other way can be a bit more trouble, as you
would need to turn down the end of the input shaft, but once you did that,
you'd be able to fit either 3 or 5 main engines, with the correct bush in the
end of the crank.
