Excuse me, but, ever heard of break in period? Or is this a thing out of my
past?
Cruising at "sustained high speeds" for 85 miles? Accelerating after seeing your
oil pressure is 0? Hey, just get in and drive the thing, right? If it doesn't
work, you can always blame the guy who rebuilt it.

Cruising at highway speeds likely created higher pressure, and with new seals, a
good bit of your oil left the premises. When you stopped, what was left in the
sump sloshed forward and didn't get picked up and the pressure went to zero
until
the oil dripped back. A quart and a half down will do that.

IMHO, you should have kept the speeds down for the first 500 miles, you should
have checked the dipstick at the first sign of reduced pressure. Personally, I
use single grade 30w if the rebuild is done in moderate temperatures, then
switch
to 20w50 after 500 miles with a new filter. Check your undercarriage, you will
probably find a nice coat of 10w30 all the way back.

Nomex on, but not really needed.
