Jay,
I put the Autozone alternator in my '72B. Its a re-built Lucas 16ACR as
original, and came with a lifetime replacement warrenty, of course you have to
use your old pully/fan.
So far so good ( 4 months old).
Harlan.

>I'm shopping for a new alternator since mine just bit the dust. Here's what
I've found:
1) Moss, VB, etc. offers alternators in the $150 range. Remanufactured
with return of the old part expected.
2) NAPA has them for $96. Remanufactured LUCAS alternators, done by Bosch.
3) Autozone has them for $65. No details on these at all.
So...does anyone know what gives here? Why the huge difference in cost from
one supplier to another? I have to wonder about the Autozone part in
particuar...
I went ahead and ordered one from Autozone anyway. I can always return it
(or not even take it out of the store) if I'm not satisfied. If it's not
OE, I can at least use it for now then keep it as a back up...cash is a
little tight right now. Autozone also offers a lifetime warranty on it, so
if it blows up, they replace it.
Best Regards,
