Yes, I figure today (after seeing a slightly crisped MGB), is a good day to
remind the list to check those fuel lines in the engine bay. Old rubber
will crack, lead to leaks, which will lead to a fire.
Fortunately, the owners quick putting out of the fire (or it burned out
fast) meant that just some of the plastic componentry melted in the engine
bay, probably some wiring as well.
Infact, any old rubber showing wear should be replaced. Preventive
maintance is ALWAYS a good idea (and it will keep your cars health on the up
and up!).
