First, be aware of fresh paint jobs. Paint will hide anything - for about 6
months or so, then it all starts to come back. Tires are cheap, as are
refinishing rostyles. Interior isn't cheap, but can be done by yourself.
You need to drive the car yourself. There is a lot you can feel through the
steering wheel, shifter, and pedals that you can't tell from the passenger
seat. Poor paint? not cheap. Sounds to me like you're going to put another
$3000 or so (minimum) to make it the way it ought to be. Even in CT, with
the $1000 premium, that car sounds to be about $1500 too high. Here in NC,
that car would be in the $1500 to $2000 range. Don't run, but walk very
politely and persistently away. Good luck, and may the Force be with you.
