The original guess was that it would take a few days of work
and a few hundred dollars to put Jasmine back on the road.
Both estimates, as too be expected, were off by a factor of
about 3-5. She now has functioning hydraulics, has been
cleaned, the oil pump has been modified (and I now know how
to set my drill press up as a mill) and last night I *finally*
started reassembling the motor. If nothing else untoward goes
wrong, I should be able to fire her up after just a couple more
nights work.
If anyone has any free time and would be willing to help with
the project (from reinstalling the fuel tank, windows etc.) to
helping me put the engine and tranny back in, or for that matter
just keeping me company while I wrench, I am willing to offer
the following bribes:
1) Dinner (or other applicable meal)
2) Rides in the car when I'm teaching at one of the local tracks
(about once a month)
3) A tour of my single malt collection (after we're done working
for the evening)
4) Loan of my engine hoist when you need to pull your motor
If you might be interested in lending a hand get in touch with me
and I'll tell you how to find the house.
PS, everything has already been cleaned up so it shouldn't be
nasty icky dirty work.
