In a nutshell: Get the book on giving your MGB v8 power, I don't remember
the exact title but it is something like that, the engine is hard to find,
but 61-61 Buick special, 61-63 Olds F-85, 61-62 Pontiac Tempest, and
assorted Rover cars. A new trans is not required but it was the Achiles
heal of the original BV8. Cost is a huge variable depending on who does
the work and how modified you get. I am doing a full restoration, mild
tuning, and custom interior (race inspired), race suspension, etc and I am
estimating 6-7k. I have seen RBB to CBB conversions and if done right no
one will ever know, infact no one figured it out, ultimately the owner
told us. I don't know about the bumper thing because I don't know the 60s
B but I don't think the mounts are any different, if I recall Moss has the
same part no for the bumper on all CBB cars. If you are serious about the
conversion I know of a 63 buick (200 hp-most power of any of the years)
with and auto trans that the owner will probably sell cheap. It is in
Boulder, Co and has ~57k on it and I think it runs. I have never seen it
run but it is registered and looks like it will go. Car is a POS but
engine and trans are complete and look good. Good luck if you undertake
the conversion.
