I know I've been retired for only two years but doesn't Ft. Knox (that's
where you are assigned if memory serves) have an education center??? Don't
they help with this stuff anymore? Anyway, I agree with Nevin, use the
basic military style of writing but I suggest putting it in a civilian
format, depending on the software you use there are some decent wizards and
templates available for such things. Also I suggest that you use Unit
Letterhead too. That stuff does impress civilians at least for 5 minutes or
so. Another idea would be to contact the ACAP office, while I realize you
aren't retiring yet, they should have someone in that office who could
assist you.!!
PS if your Colonel has a real secretary she/he should be able to help too
On another note I have heard that military personnel can no longer have
visible tattoo's, I'm guessing on the arms, hands, neck??? And that the
removal of such tattoos is being done at government expense due to
readiness. Is there any truth to this? How on earth is it being enforced
(maybe a stupid question given the UCMJ) and what about all the military
personnel that have had tattoos for years...Good luck with the Masters
Program.

I have to submit some letters of recommendation for an application to a
Masters program, and was wondering if any of you university types can show
me (weblinks, successful letters, etc.) an acceptable format. The only
formats I know are standard Army regulation "Letters to a civilian" stuff.
That's probably acceptable, but I'm just wondering.
I have to type my own letter for the Colonel's sig, of course. (that's how
the army works). It's a distance ed MA in Management.
Sorry to disturb you...but you read this far. hehe.
