Hi Ed,
I just tried what you suggested: three plugs in, throttle plate (I had an 
assistant hold down the gas while I lifted the piston during cramking) open.

Result: #2 (from the front) cylinder pumped up to ~185 max, then leaked down 
to zero fast.  

Valves were checked the other day- cold, though.  Most were abut the same, 
only the #2 valve was set very loose, so I adjusted that like the others.

So what do you think?
