To Bob and Enrique,
Thanks for your quick response.
While the compression gauge is old, it is consistent. So the readings are
valid in relation to each other. All plugs were out on all tests.
I just tested with 20/50 oil added:
#1 increased from 150 to 200 lbs
#2 "
#3 " 138 to 200, and leaked down slower (2-3 seconds),
to 100
#4 increased from 150 to 200
I'm thinking I've got a leaking head gasket, AND worn rings.
What is the usual #lbs/sq.in for a healthy MGB motor?
Is it worth trying to replace the head gasket w/o new rings?
While I have the head off-if we just do the head, how much can I mill off for
better street performance?
Thanks again, Ray
