Of the three wires on the interior light one should be purple (fused, always
hot) which supplies the 12v, one should be purple/white which supplies the
ground for when the doors are open, and the black supplies the ground for
the switch on the light itself.
If you used the purple and the purple/white and the door was open, or if you
used the purple and black (better, one less thing to confuse the issue), you
*should* have been OK.
Gotta be something really simple that another pair of eyes might spot right
away.
