As far as SUs go, if you try and maintain the oil level *above* the top of
the damper tube you will be forever topping it up. The oil level can fall
as low as the bottom of the piston before it starts to affect performance.
If you can unscrew the cap, lift it, lower it, and feel resistance before
the cap reaches the dashpot cover you have enough.
