<<How much correlation is there between water temperature and oil
temperature? I've been thinking - in cars that could only
marginally benefit from an oil cooler during warm weather, couldn't
the same effect be reached by putting in a lower temp thermostat?
It would make sense that and engine running cooler water would also
see somewhat lower oil temps...>>
Not much, Mike - the water can be fine, and the oil over the top, although
obviously there is some correlation as both fluids are circulating in the same
chunk of iron. A lower temp thermostat won't do it for the oil.
