OB is now back to totally stock configuration -attempting
to find out what's up with this cruising stumble.
Tests today yield the following
fuel pump = brand new - measured 1 gallon in 3 minutes
(that calculated out to 20 gal/hr)
compression 125 +/- 1 psi all cylinders (might be my gauge, it's pretty old)
oil consumption - 1 qt/1200 miles
brand new HS4 AUD405 carbs
AAE needles - stock air filters and boxes. 14 flats down and
CO2 meter and colortune say they are set OK.
rebuilt distributor (41491 - cent. adv. curve right on the money!)
vacuum advance - brand new (10.15.5)
vac tapped at manifold carb port -plugged
N9YC spark plugs gapped at 0.030
40K volt coil - electronic ignition (Pertronix ?)
new spark plug wires
Most of this stuff has been tried more than once.
carbs balance very easily. Will idle smoothly at 750rpm
THIS f@#$^ THING STILL CHUGS/STAMMERS/SURGES
AT CRUISE.
Plenty of power accelerating, no backfire shutting down
no run on, no fuel leaks
PLEASE SOMEBODY! Someone has got to know what causes this
