I share you opinion of that replacement unit, having bought one (on sale) last fall. The turn portion of mine is very rough, makes a "skreek!" noise when operated to the right. I expect it to break every time I use it. I should remove it and polish the sliding surfaces, but I keep hoping it'll "wear in." CR Just a thought - would aerosol-type volume control cleaner from Radio Shack smooth this out? Allen Allen H.
