MGB Hood Fitting

I am buying a 1977 roadster with a badly torn hood but included with it is a
new vinyl hood still in its box.  Although I'm quite confident to try most
jobs on an older car, I have never fitted a hood before and am wondering how
easy this is to do or whether than risk damaging the new hood or misaligning
it so that it leaks for evermore I'd do better paying for the hood to be
fitted.  Any thoughts ?
