It's been a while since I posted my progress with the '77 Midget. There
really hasn't been much. It's still too cold on the weekends. It gets up to
55F - 60F degrees every Wednesday, but drops to below freezing on the
weekends. We need to get a better weather service in the Philadelphia area!
Still too cold to paint the Rostyle wheels. I did get a boot for the hood
(when it is folded down). I found it on the PDLJMPR web site classifieds.

The ad said $30.00, and most suppliers want $159.00 for a new one. I wrote to
the seller and he only had a well used one left, but he gave it to me for
$7.50! I had to replace about 6 snaps and I scrubbed it up. It has a few
inches of seams torn out and it needs a new liner (the part that covers the
window when the hood is folded), but the foam padding is good, and other than
that it looks good. I'll take it to an upholstery shop to see how much the
repair will cost.
I have the brake calipers apart and cleaned, but the psitons are in really bad
shape. I will order new pistons this week. I can do that part inside. I
have some gray engine paint that I will use on the calipers. I already have
all the rest of the parts for the brakes.
A trip to the British Car Swap Meet in Norristown, PA this Sunday didn't help
much. A great sale for B's and older MG's, and a lot of Triumph parts, plus I
got to meet a nice bunch of Listers! The only things I bought were a few old
magazines and the required "MG Parking Only" sign for the garage.
Lots of great cars in the parking lot at the swap meet. I really liked the
beautiful, short-wheelbase Land Rover. Whose was it?
Tomorrow is Groundhog Day! Let's hope he doesn't see his shadow and spring
will be here early. Let's go, Punxsutawney Phil!
