Mid 50s and sunny, pretty nice for late January in Kansas City. A
perfect day to sit outside and read my "new" November 1962 issue of Road
& Track. This is the issue where they first drove and reviewed the new
MGB. It has a picture of a baby blue MGB, with wires, whitewalls and
what looks like a blue soft top, on the cover. Inside there is an
extensive road test of the "new" MGB complete with a lot of good
pictures and specs. They also have another article that contains a nice
technical review of the MGB, comparing it to previous MGs, and the new
MG 1100. In the center of the magazine, there is a nice full color four
page insert from BMC, on nice quality heavy weight paper, showing off
and advertising the new MGB. It shows a lot of good color pictures of
the same baby blue MGB that is on the magazines cover. R & T seemed to
really like the car. The articles contain a lot of great information.
The magazine is in really good condition -- its well worth the $6 that I
paid after having the high bid for it on eBay.
Other LBCs featured are the new Austin Healey 3000 ("roll up windows
have been added") and the Cooper Formula I. The magazine also had a lot
of great ads for accessories -- I wish that I could some of those parts
for anywhere near the price in the ad! Now if I just had a scanner I
could post it on a web page -- sometime!
