Hey Larry.. back in late 70's I put nearly 60K miles on a Vega Wagon
in under 18 months . Damn fine runner..( like you say except for the engine)

I don't think I ever fixed anything on it the whole time I owned it (bought
it used)
except maybe one/two tune ups
I treated oil, like an extra gallon of gas.They cost about the same back
then  ha ha ha
