HI....
I saw a reply or two to the questions of Crack of Doom, YMMV, DPO. I
thought I might try to shed some light on the abbreviations. Others have
explained the Crack of Doom and probably the following, but here goes
anyway...
DPO is a Dreaded Previous Owner. Then there's the DPM -- Dreaded Previous
Mechanic. Could be a DPO/M, I suppose.
YMMV is Your Mileage May Vary -- or you may have a different opinion
WIAAIIMAW explain that CBB is a Chrome Bumpered B. OTOH a RBB is a Ruber
Bumpered B.
Two perenial discussions are the meaning of MG and WD in WD-40.
Sometimes you all have me ROTFL, and other times the schtik is so good that
I'm ROTFLMAO, so am merely trying to be helpful by returning a favor,
IYKWIM! :-)
Actually all this acronym business started in the days of expensive
Bulletin Board Systems -- pre-internet messaging. Cutting down the length
of the messages and not quoting back the entire message in replies saved
the sysops money on LD calls, and the users the aggravation of waiting for
a 300 or 2400 BPS modem to download information. Now the use of acronyms
cuts down on typing! Probably spelling errors, too...
