Shit happens but you are in luck. Eastwood Co sells a glass polishing kit
that consists of silica based compound that you mix with water and a buff.
You must hook the buff to a polishing machine but it must rotate at
1500RPM. the vertical shaft of the buff does not fit most standard
electrical machines so that is a bit of hassle. The compound is not diamond
based so polishing is slow. 

If you want to do a better and faster job you can get 0.5 or 1 um diamond
based water soluble. You can use a slow rev drill with a standard buff. Be
careful not to buff on the scratches alone but on the whole area. Go slow
for best results. Enrique
