Hi all, I have some questions about my brother's MGB. He use Moss'
lowered springs in front, along with a 3/4" front sway bar. We have the
original, functioning Armstrong lever shocks up front, and Spax
adjustable in the rear with 2 year old rubber bumper leaf springs.
Original rear sway bar.

The problems we are trying to diagnose are as follows: 1) moderate bump
steer and 2) loose rear end.

Side-bar: After I lower my P-car, I'm going to probably have to get some
spacers for the steering rack to restore original tie-rod geometry.

It doesn't look like this is possible with the MGB. How do I change the
geometry? Do I need to have some pieces machined to move the location
of the tie-rod ends?

Secondly, if we tighten up the spax in the rear, the ride is rough but
the handling is really good. I can push the car, but neither end will
break away. However, when we take the shocks down (softer), we can
break the rear end away with minor effort.

I think we need to go ahead and lower the rear end. What's the best
way, if there is even a consensus? Looking for a reasonable method,
i.e. not incredibly expensive.. Also, it sounds like we need to
increase the stiffness of the rear sway bar. OK?

I'm going to get Fred Phun's book when I get back to school. I really
need to brush up on my suspension basics.

BTW. The car we are working on is slated for V8 installation in March
during spring break. Please keep this in mind for recommendations.

Thanks a bunch, as always
Jay
