2) I need a new speedo. I have a 67 B with a three synchro, non-overdrive
transmission and banjo axle. I have the oversize tires right now, but
would like it to be correct when I get the proper tires. At what rotation
rate should it be calibrated? The current gauge is not the correct one so
I'd rather not trust it.
Hi Joseph,
I have two '67 B's, both came without OD and now have OD. The non-OD speedos
both say "SN 6144/00 1040". If you have a different number on your speedo then
you probably have an OD speedo. I will happily trade you. :-)
While I'm on the subject, one of these cars has the correct early OD tranny and
the other has a late OD tranny. For you many people who have put a late OD
tranny in an early car, is there a speedo that's correct for this setup (that
will fit the dash)? If so, what? If not, is it possible to modify a speedo to
work?
For you people who have early cars with early OD trannies, what is the number
for the correct speedo?
BTW, the project car is all together and ready to fire up! Woohoo! The only
holdup is fabricating a longer tunnel cover out of the original tunnel cover and
a piece of old battery cover, and I have the splinters to prove it. :-|
