Excellent advice. The only thing I would add is, find a way to turn it =
over without starting (remove plugs or whatever) and turn it over several =
times without starting. This will put a bit of oil into it before it is =
running. Don't do it enough to burn out the starter but until the oil =
pressure guage comes to life. Removing the plugs and preventing gas from =
being pumped in would probably give the safest and fastest turnover rate.

Drain all the oil, renew filter, renew oil.
Flush coolant system, replace thermostat, replace coolant.
Change fuel filter, change all fuel lines in engine compartment.
Pull carb(s) off and clean. Replace air filter.
Pull fuel pump, clean, replace, if working.
If gas tank is rusty, clean, treat and replace, if it is OK fill it =
half=20
way with 92 or higher.
Pull all the spark plugs, gap the new ones and install.
Replace all spark plug wires and cap and rotor on dizzy.
Gap and install new points and install new condensor. Maybe a new coil=20
and wire too.
Pull fuse box and clean very well, replace all fuses (35amp).
Check wiring for burnt insulation, special attention to brown wires.
Check battery for good clean connections and that the ground is=20
excellent.
After all that which, barring any major problems, should take the=20
morning to do, you could start it, but don't drive it anywhere but a =
cul=20
de sac if you haven't payed close scrutiny to the brakes and clutch.=20
If it turns, but doesn't start, disconnect the fuel line and hold it in=20
a jar while an assistant turns the electric to ON.
Take note of the new gas coming out, is it brownish red?
If so, you are going to have to flush or renew your main feed pipe and=20
possible replace your gas tank.
If not, take some ether (starting fluid) and give the motor a couple=20
shots of it through spark plug hole.
If it still doesn't start, check your spark - pull plug one hold it =
with=20
pliers against the block and have an assistant crank the car over.
You should see a good spark about a sixteenth of an inch thick (blue).
If not, check that your condensor is grounded properly, check that your=20
points are working (get a manual at this point), may have to replace=20
coil.
If all else fails, put it in the front yard with a sign in it that says=20
"MGB FOR SALE, Runs Great needs battery, $10,000 o.b.o". :)
