Don't know how much help it will be to you but I replaced my chrome
eight years ago with bog-standard replacements, although the supplier
did allow me to root through his stock to select the best pair as some
were quite rough. Since then (eight years and 20k miles) the car has
probably seen more wet miles than dry (especially this year) but the
chrome is still perfect. I only wax the car a couple of times a year,
never use detergent in the wash just cold water, and never use chrome
cleaner.
