Um, yes. I have had my MGB, which I bought new, since 1971. That makes 27
years now (almost 28). The car was built in February 1971 and I bought it
in August 1971. Before that, I had a 1967 MGB that I wrote off in SCCA
racing. The 1971 has been following me around the world since I bought it.
We are now in Germany. My thirteen year old son insisted that I put it my
will that he gets the car, which I did. My (almost ex) wife can't even sell
it. And, I certainly won't.
Don't know if setting records count.
Good tip on getting the dip stick out. Now, how does one top the
transmission off without making a total mess ?

I just read a post from another MGB owner that mentioned how much of
a b--ch it is to get out the transmission dipstick on the MGB. We all can
agree to that. I have had my 72B for 21 years and here is a trick that I
wish I had thought of 20 years ago: Take a ty-rap and loosly loop it through
the finger hole on the dipstick. When you need to check the fluid level next
time just grab the loose hanging ty-rap and pull it though the hole in the
transmission tunnel and the dipstick will come out with it. It's a
beautiful thing. :-)
I am 2 weeks new to the list and am enjoying all the great info.
By the way, anybody else had their B for more than 21 years? Have I
set a record?
I've had my GT since October 10, 1974...our 24th anniversary is
Saturday....I'm gettin' kinda weepy....
I'll bet there's some stories in your 21 years!
Here's to longevity!
