You have pretty much summed it up. A trolley jack can be used to compress
the springs, don't use a scissors or bottle jack. The Lindsay Porter DIY

Might as well check for swivel pin wear, the condition of the shocks, and the
length of the springs at the same time. Also I'd recommend using the
V8 style bushings as the original rubber type will wear out again quickly.
Oh and check the wheel bearings too.
