No, I am not Welsh!! I was there on an RAF flying training station.
During my stay, many of the local cottages were being purchased by the
English, as holiday homes. The local "Trogs" ( a nickname we RAF called
the Welsh,) set up a similar society to Save The Whales, but called it
'Welsh Nationalists'.
They set about burning down the cottages the English had spent fortunes
on refurbishing, as the locals could no longer afford to buy a home in
their own villages.
This led to we RAF ammenging a television advert over the coal fire...
it went
" Come home to a real fire, buy a cottage in Wales."
Did not go down too well with some!!!!!!!
