After 25 years of collecting old guns,  I still use a 10% solution of
Phosphoric acid ( same acid as in Coke, that's why this works as a light
deruster too ) , and it's the fastest after gritblasting!
A slower system is a 15% solution of Sodium Oxalate. This last product is
sold readymade at DIY shops as a product for removing rust stains on wood,
marble,etc.
