The tube is 1/2" outside diameter copper tubing. The short leg is 4", the
long leg is 15", and the bend is a large radius to avoid collapse of the
bore during forming. The ends do have a small ridge (not a flare), but
it's not really necessary. If the hose clamps are tight enough to hold the
pressure of the cooling system, the hoses are not going to slip off. I
think the ridge formed at the end of the pipe is more functional in
strengthening the soft pipe to prevent physical damage.
