Fluctuating idle - MGB

Hello again,
    Now that I fixed my tach, I needed to set my idle speed down a bit on my
car.  After adjusting it down, it started to fluctuate between 1200rpm and
600rpm.  I had never seen or heard anything like this on the list.  Is this
an indication of something I've done wrong?  Any help would be appreciated -
the carbs seem to be balanced, and the mixture is right - I'm baffled...
