I kept the original clutch. I replaced the disk and the thowout, had the
flywheel resurfaced, and had a new ring gear installed. Works fine. The
first clutch lasted 38 years. If I get that much out of this one I will be
very old before it needs further attention.
On the flip side, the MGB mod will give you a lighter flywheel. That is
probably the biggest advantage of the change. If I had not been on such a
tight schedule, I would probably have made the change for this reason but
the heavy flywheel makes the A easy to launch and smooths the idle without
costing too much in "peppiness."
