FW: MGB does not run, help needed

Hi,
I have tiny problem with my MGB -74. It does not run....
It runs 200 yards, then stops, starts OK and runs 200 yards, stops and so 
on....
To me it seems to be gas problem, i checked the filter and it was OK.
Any ideas what is wrong? Gas pump? Rusty gas tank?

An other thing, can you use jump cables from 12 V battery? There is 2 6V 
batteries in my MG.
