Yeah, bill, make sure you check that intake for anything loose. To overlook
any object, especially one the size of a nut, would mean disaster to your
engine.
Don't feel bad about your missing nut. I am the worst person about misplacing
things. When I rebuilt the engine in my '70 MGB, I probably had about 15 or so
loose nuts and bolts. I dunno where they ever went. Damn British engineers
just don't know what they were doing anyway; the warm beer they drink might
explain a lot.
Seriously, I replaced all my bolts with stainless variety and the nuts were not
a problem to find at the hardware store. Be darn sure you get no loose stuff
where it ain't supposed to be, and you will have no problems.
Forgetfulness is a trait, so if your family calls you a names, don't worry.
They are in the same boat as you. :)
