It has been done, and can be done, but it is not without trouble. If you want
more power, get a good 5 main b engine, a 67 flywheel modified to take an a
clutch and an A transmission, or use a B transmission and fabricate a new rear
mount. You will have more power that is not all that difficult to install.
If you want the parts to make a rear mount for a b transmission, I can sell
them to you for about $100. You will have to make some modifications to the
frame (minor) adjust the placement of the shifter cover on the transmission
tunnel, also minor, and have your drive shaft extended 2.5 ", not so minor. I
have this setup in my A and like it, but I do have an interest in this, so
consider that when deciding what to do. Regardless, the A is a wonderful car.
