Hello all, for the last few days I have been noticing an exaust leak on my
77B, I finally had time to look to see the where the problem may be and
noticed that the catalytic converter was glowing red hot.
As this is the first catalytic MG I have had any dealings with, Is this
normal? John Twist talks about red hot cats in the Porter book in the
de-tox section, so I guess that it is not uncommon if not normal to see
this. I really don't like having a red hot chunk of metal right under the
carb, heat shield or no heat shield so I am going to de-tox and get rid of
that Stromberg thing and retrofit with SU's becaus it maks sence and I have
a spare set. I also want to put on a free-flow exaust system. Does anyone
have any opinions on brands? I plan to stay with the cast iron manifold so
if anyone has any advice please pass it along. Stay cool,
