I'm nearing the point of putting the engine back together in the trusty '71
MGB. Since I use the car for autocross as well as the street I've been
looking at adding a baffle in the sump to help prevent oil pressure loss in
the sort of heavy cornering I do, thereby hopefully extending the time
before spinning another rod bearing as I dd late last year, prompting the
current rebuild. I've copied the template from the Special Tuning manual
and was considering having one fabricated (after making the changes
necessary to accomodate the slightly different pan shape in my 18GK as
opposed to the 18GA and GB that the ST manual template is for. It occured
to me that I'm probably not the first to consider this and was wondering if
anyone out there on the list has already done this project and might know
where I could obtain either the baffle itself or a sump already modified
with one. Or failing that, whether there are others out there who'd like
one themselves, as there might be some economies of production if we were
to have several made rather than just one.
