Keep your car original!  Put in the two batteries.  Keep it negative ground.
In keeping the car as original as you can, you will definitely preserve its
value. The things that are odd on an MG are the suspension, carbs, and fuel
pump and they are very simple.  There are many books on B's, and due to the
lack of complexity of the car, any of the books will work fine.  The factory
shop manual is reprinted by Bentley Books and you can probably find one in a
used book store.  Good luck!
