Skye,
Solenoid, actually, jumper the small lead (ignition switch) and the post
with all the fat wires.
Before you go to all that trouble, with a GOOD gauge, you can do this:
1) Pull ALL the plugs
2) Loosen the carb dampers, and let them sit, they won't jump out
3) Screw the gauge into #1 (make sure it's a tight seal, not the "hold in"
rubber kind or get a friend, repeat for 2, 3 and 4)
4) Go back, sit down and turn the key -- crank with the accelerator pedal to
the floor, 10 turnovers, let it zoom, then stop.
5) Look at the gauge. Note the reading. Release the guage pressure to 0.
6) Repeat 3 more times.
You don't need a special tool! How the hell do you spell guage????
I struggled with this over and over, I've got it right by now. All on my
own, just me and the guage (sp?).
