Ok, I went back down to the garage and restarted the car. After a bit it
starts to smoke. The car is much harder to start than before I began
working on it and it has a hard time running at any kind of lower idle
speed. Also, there is an intermittant popping sound coming from the carbs.
It's odd. I didn't really do anything to the carbs except for work on the
float bowl assembly especially around the area where the hose from the jet
comes into the bowl. Still, I can imagine that in putting it back on I
messed up the idle settings. I don't mind tinkering with the adjustments
like the idle screws, but the smoke concerns me. I don't want to burn
anything up.
Any ideas welcome. I think I'll sit back and give this one a think and see
if anyone else has ideas on what should be checked first.
Thanks,
Philip
