Hi Ray,
There is an adapter available to get into u-joint zerk fittings that fits
on the end of a standard grease gun hose. Two types are available: One fits
on the tip of a zerk fitting and the other is pointed so it fits into a
little cup. I remember that old AMC's and Jeeps had the cup type in the
U-J. I ended up buy my regular style one from the Snap-on guy when I worked
at the AMC dealer in the 80's. Never got the pointy one 'cause I borrowed
someone else's at the time and have never seen any use for one since.
Sorry but no info on the bolt torque. Thought I could find something in the
Machinery Handbook. We have some Unbrako information that suggests 110 in
lb for a .25-28 socket head cap screw but I'm not really that sure about it.
