Alan,
Lasy year I replaced the carpets in my Midget with auto carpeting that
I cut to size. I didn't want to go through the hassle of making the
piece that goes over the tunnel with the shift boot hole in it. The
old one I had was faded but in pretty good shape otherwise, so I used
some black RIT which my S.O. swore wouldn't work. Long story short - it
worked great and six months later still looks good. The color doesn't
rub off or run. You'll need a big metal pot to dye them in though.
