Someone wrote, that instead of installing 2 fire extinguishers in a
race
car that they would install a fire system, with lines running to the
engine,
cockpit etc.
There is 1 MAJOR disadvantage to a plumbed in system. You can not
help put out a fire on some else's car. I have seen this happen
twice on
turbo-charge engined cars. The car catches fire (oil leak), the
plumbing
in fire system is triggered, the fire goes out. A couple of seconds
later the hot turbo oil re-ignites - what do you do now ?????
With free hand-held fire extinguishers, the car would hve beeen
saved. Alas
It burned to a crisp.
Something to consider.
